GRANTS, financial help: About Single dad of two

I was a weapon Sergeant with 7th group until last year when I pulled out of combat due to a cheating wife who is involved with drugs and alcohol. In April of 07 I came home from Afghanistan because of my soon to be ex wife and her problems with the above mentioned. She was the sole care provider of our 2 small children. One 3 year old boy and One 7 year old girl. When I came home the courts let her keep the kids because at that point it was my word against hers and their wasn't any proof... Until the day of the overdose on cocain and sleeping pills. Not to mention the attempted suicide. I put in for an emergency custody order and have had my kids ever since. The only issue is that I live in an unfinished basement at my aunts house. I work tird shift and have to rely on my Aunt to watch the kids when I go to work all night. When I come home I have to take care of my kids. No time for sleep. My soon to be ex has us in so much debt that I cant get my kids and on back on our feet. I need a fresh start for my kids sake. We are $47k indebt with bill collectors calling everyday. My daughter was not adjusting to her new living arrangments and I was forced to send her to her grandmothers due to her doing bad in school and at the house. I don't know where else to turn and really hope someone out there can help me. I just want a new beginning for my kids. It crushes me everyday to hear them say they want their mommy and shes not there for them. I do not receive any type of child support and she never helps with them. Please help...

Hello single dad of two! I was writing to see if there was any update on your situation? I know that times and situations get very desperate and hard to deal with, but in light of everything always remember and be thankful that you get to see your children everyday, and there are those that do not. Remember that your living situation may not be ideal, but it is better than living in a car or a shelter or even worse. And thank God you have a job at all. With their mother being absent, you have an opportunity to give those kids a double helping of love, and although sometimes you feel that you cannot find a drop of patience left in you, that is when you have dig deep and create a moment of laughter with them. When you feel like you want to scream and punch the wall, sit on the floor and play with your kids. I understand your pains, and know that you are in Gods sight and it will be ok. As a single parent who has survived through many of the same grievances as you. I pray that God will work in your life and bless you and your children. If you are not going to church I encourage you to start. If you find a good Bible based church, you find more connections to people in your community who help each other and might be able to help you. You never know, maybe it will even help your daughter to be influenced by spiritually led women in her life, and give her more positive influences. Please take care and God bless! Tamara
